Christmas Already?! Postal Deadline for Oxbridge Cathedral Tickets Nears

Monday October 6, 2008

Sorry to bring it up - when you probably haven't even bought the Halloween sweeties yet - but if you're thinking you might attend one of England's famous Cathedral Christmas services, the time to start planning is now.

Tickets are free - but required - for one of the most famous Cathedral Christmas Eve Services, the Nine Lessons and Carols at Christ Church Cathedral, Oxford - and postal applications must be in by the end of October.

At King's College Chapel Cambridge, The Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols was created 90 years ago and has been broadcast, by the BBC, for 80 years. So you've probably already heard it. But if you'd like to attend, you have to line up hours in advance. If you can't, because of disability or illness, you may be able to obtain one of the limited number of free tickets. But once again, the end of October is the deadline for applying.

Edinburgh Prepares for New Improved Hogmany - with Cut Price Tickets!

Friday October 3, 2008

New Year's Eve 2009 may seem like a long way away, but, when you turn it into a four day street party, attended by hundreds of thousands of visitors and locals, it is never too soon to start planning.

This year's Edinburgh Hogmany - which claims to be the best New Year's celebration in the world - will be bigger and better than ever. Street Party organizers have extened performances on all the live stages by an hour - to 1 a.m., there will be more fireworks and new audio visual technology (they're not saying exactly what yet) to see in 2009 with an even bigger bang.

But you do need a ticket. And for a limited time only - starting today - street party tickets are available for half price - £5 - on line, or by telephoning the box office on +44 (0)844 481 2009. They like their mysteries up north and they're allso not saying when the promotion ends but - when it does - the tickets are still great value at £10.
